Well, I think the wind may finally be starting to die here in Flagstaff. That’s not to say that we will be wind free anytime soon. But it appears that the nasty weather is clearing out and summer is just around the corner. And you know what that means. It’s time to get out there and ride.
Northern Arizona is a great place to ride your motorcycle in the summer. There are hundreds of miles of back roads that can take you to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Jerome, Canyon De Chelly–you name it. You can usually find a sunny day that won’t get above 85 degrees. Ahhhhhhh……
Unfortunately, it’s also a dangerous time to ride as well. There are many other folks driving those same back roads in much larger cars, trucks, and RV’s. And they aren’t necessarily looking at the road as much as they are the scenery. This can result in a not so pleasant experience for the thousands of motorcycle riders that are out there.
The weather also brings out the bicyclists. Many come to the Flagstaff area to train in the high altitude and for the much cooler temperatures than those of Arizona’s deserts. Although bike lanes have been added to some of these roads there are still many areas that are tight.
So I write today to caution you all. Please be careful out there. Pay attention to the road. Look twice before passing on that two lane road. Check your mirrors before making that turn. Give a little extra room when passing. You just might save a life.
And, as a motorcyclist, if you happen to find yourself broken down on one of those back roads and in need of a tow. Don’t hesitate to call us at AM/PM Towing. We’ll send out one of our experienced operators with the proper equipment to get you and your bike safely to a repair facility.
